Synthesizing optical spectra using computer-generated holography techniques

Experimental control and detection of atoms molecules often rely on optical transitions between different electronic states. In many cases, substructure such as hyperfine or spin-rotation structure leads to the need for multiple frequencies spaced by MHz GHz. The task creating -- spectral engineering becomes challenging when number large, a situation that one could encounter in complex large magnetic fields. this work, we present novel method synthesize arbitrary spectra modulating monochromatic light field with time-dependent phase generated through computer-generated holography techniques. Our is compatible non-linear processes sum frequency generation second harmonic generation. Additional requirements arise from finite lifetimes excited states can also be satisfied our approach. As proof-of-principle demonstration, generate suitable cycling photons X-B transition CaF, verify via Optical Bloch Equation simulations achieve high photon scattering rates, which are important fluorescent laser cooling. offer significant simplifications future experiments would otherwise prohibitively complex.
